Paul new

Paul Bunkall – Heads the Auckland and Wellington Office

Director of Rawlinsons Limited

Paul is highly experienced and qualified with more than 35 years in quantity surveying and project management. He oversees all key Government clients and State Owned Enterprises and also specialises in management and services cost management, cost planning and petro-chemical industry cost engineering.

With expertise in contract law, procurement methodology, business strategy and governance, he offers a valuable understanding of the construction industry as a whole and in particular the Wellington area.

Paul’s wealth of knowledge of procedures and the construction market make his input invaluable on all projects. He manages a team of well-respected senior quantity surveyors who provide all Rawlinsons clients with the most up to date cost and management advice available.

He has been with Rawlinsons since 1992, before this his experience included close on  two years working on site at the tail end of the Marsden Point Oil refinery expansion project, acting as Senior Cost Manager, negotiating main contract change orders and reviewing subcontract arrangements for completion works.

Outside of work he is at home on the golf course and a keen fisherman.

Julian new

Julian Mace – Heads the Christchurch Office

Director of Rawlinsons Limited

Julian has an extensive knowledge base built up over 36 years in the industry in both Australia and New Zealand. Since 1998 he has been applying his skill in the areas of estimating and cost planning, procurement methodology, business strategy and governance. Julian became a Director in 2011.

Julian works on diverse projects, among them the secondment to the National Bank as client representative responsible for refurbishment of local branches together with organisation of temporary premises. He was principal consultant responsible for the implementation of the Ministry of Educations Deferred Maintenance Programme at 140 schools from South to North Canterbury.

Julian was also the project quantity surveyor for the Christchurch International Airport Terminal Expansion Project.  Most of this time was on site in the project office, where he was involved in every aspect of cost and budget advice to both the Project Manager and the client.  This included several specialised separate contract packages, client internal costs, tenancy interfaces and professional fees.

Outside of work Julian is a keen fisherman and hunter.

Lawrie

Lawrie Saegers - Christchurch Office

Director of Rawlinsons Limited

Since starting his career as a quantity surveyor with a Christchurch based main contractor in 1998, Lawrie has established himself as a focused, enthusiastic and well respected individual in the South Island property, construction and infrastructure markets.

Lawrie has a consistent drive and determination to make projects successful for our clients through the application of a balanced approach of diligent cost management and a steadfast “best for project” mentality. This approach has resulted in Lawrie successfully delivering our services on some of our largest and most diverse projects, recently and specifically in the commercial property, health, mining and irrigation sectors.

His areas of specialty including the setting and maintaining of realistic budgets from the outset of a project through to completion, building strong stakeholder relationships, advice into procurement strategies and forms of contract for specific projects, due diligence (including internal and external peer reviews and audits) and where required, contract administration and dispute resolution.

Although he is born and bred in Christchurch, Lawrie has spent several years living and working in Auckland and in the United Kingdom as a Director and Associate Director of medium sized quantity surveying and project and cost management companies respectively.

After joining Rawlinsons in 2008, Lawrie was appointed a Director of Rawlinsons in April 2014, based in Christchurch and also leading our national infrastructure team.

Mark Burrows - Dunedin Office

Regional Manager

Mark has enjoyed over thirty five years quantity surveying and estimating on both sides of the contracting fence which gives him the advantage of understanding both professional and contracting points of view.

Mark is a qualified arbitrator and CCA adjudicator. It is this pragmatism combined with his experience of cost planning, estimating, contract procurement and alternative dispute resoultion which he brings to projects. He has recently been involved in major civic buildings in Queenstown and Invercargill as well as other South Island locations.

Mark joined the Dunedin office of Rawlinsons in 2001 as Regional Manager loves the outdoor lifestyle on offer in the South, is a keen motorcyclist and participates enthusiastically with local community services groups.
